Whispers; Shadows of the dead, most of them go back to the abyss where they came from when their hosts die. But when their host dies in a way it wasn't supposed to, the shadow stays here on earth searching for its lifeless host. The whispers feed off of human emotions, warping our thoughts, feeding us lies, up until the point of doing something that wasn't meant to be done. Causing humans to fight, kill hurt us to the point where we just don't have the will to live anymore.
Only one known person can control the shadows powers, well monster now, he was a government experiment to see and record the long term effects of the whispers. They locked him away in a dark observation area along with the evil shadows. He was only 16 at the time, an orphan that no one cared about. They called this whole ordeal "Operation Jabberwocky".
The workers at the research lab would feed and talk to him though this small hole in the wall of the sealed away area. The boy started off fine, he was even glad to get off the streets but as time when on the whispers got to him, he got worse and worse every day. The workers could hear his screams of pain, hatred and sadness, they all felt sorry for the poor kid, but did nothing; except one. this one worker would talk to him tell him stories of what's happening in the world what's it like to be in a family stories from when he was a kid, he would also give the boy extra food and water. This was soon found out and put a stop too, the worker that was the only thing keeping the boy sane, was fired.
The boy finally snapped, the whispers were waiting for this, they took advantage of this they gave him their powers. Powers unlike any other, he completely decimated the research center within seconds, killing hundreds.
Now set free onto the world the "Jabberwocky" as some called him, was wreaking havoc on everything he got near. Tearing families apart, starting riots, governmental disputes and so on.
He soon found his way in to Germany, whom were in some troubling times after World War one. With tension already high wouldn't you take this as an advantage to screw around? And screw around he did. The Jabberwocky found his way to Hitler, influenced him to get Germany back together, some ideas on how, and boom, World War two.
Now the Jabberwocky didn't have to do much to keep the war going sure if things settled down a little he'd step in and flare them right back up again. You are probably thinking, "well wouldn't anyone figure this out?" well. No, not at all the only reason is because people didn't know. The government didn't want to tell the whole world about their major screw up, I'm sure you would probably do the same if you failed as much as the government sometimes.
They did though try and stop the Jabberwocky all of their attempts ultimately ended in disaster. People did not know what they were fighting and how to kill them, and defend them self's. One group of people finally got tired of this.
And of course it was the mafia; who else would know about all government failures?
Well they weren't happy about how this was being done, and because this was messing with their business. So they sent out their own men to put an end to the Jabberwocky. And did they ever, one bloody battle latter with over half of the men dead, the Jabberwocky was taken down; the Whispers slowly vanished, everyone calmed down and a few months later the war would be finished.
But was the end of the Jabberwocky?
No, not even close
Whispers started reappearing in the early 80's. Sure in small amounts but that's how it all started. Similar problems the happened is the 20's started to reoccur, the government started to fear again, and they actually went to the Mafia's of the world asking them to protect the world, obviously the Jabberwocky did not finish his business here last time so he is going to try again.
The Mafia's agreed all thought they didn't like it, they sent out their best assassins to find and train people to be a part of this.
And that's how the WWWD started.
The year is now 2010; Toronto Canada is where the head of the WWWD resides now.
This is where my story begins,
